Hi, I’m Mike

(and that’s my dog Taako)

I grew up in Cincinnati and opted to spend the first chunk of my career in inner city classrooms, teaching English to students who needed more than a curriculum. I started clubs, built electives, trained other teachers, and learned pretty quickly that the thing I was actually good at wasn't just teaching. It was designing learning that worked for the individual human in front of me.

That led to the UAE, partly for adventure, partly a deliberate challenge to see whether what I knew held up in a completely different cultural and educational context. It did, and I left Dubai with more tools than I came in with.

At some point the math became obvious: I could reach thirty students in a classroom, or I could build systems and content that reached thousands. That's when I moved into EdTech and enterprise L&D. A decade later I've built learning architectures for global simulation platforms, designed AI-enabled production systems, and produced content ranging from corporate onboarding to animated training series. No matter where I am, I stick by one North Star - if it doesn't work for the learner, it doesn't work.

I'm also a lifelong musician, which probably explains more about how I approach production work than any tool or methodology I could list.

Based in Valencia, Spain. Open to senior roles, consulting, and conversations worth having.

If you need learning systems that work, let’s talk!
